Designed for a young family, this garden is a child-friendly informal space with a cottagey feel. A strong structure underpins the design with redesigned terracing built into the slope in order to successfully integrate house with garden. Pastel-coloured herbaceous perennials harmonise with the buildings on site and the blue lias stone terraces give a vernacular feel.

Pathways lead to the wooded areas and “secret” routes abound to facilitate childhood adventure. Alder trees soak up excess water in boggy areas and the garden has been opened up to allow in more light.
